House Purchases by Foreigners Fall by 20%, According to the Property Registrars

Foreigners carried out 36,850 house purchases in Spain during the first nine months of 2020. That figure contrasts with the more than 47,150 home purchases that were registered during the first nine months of 2019, according to the College of Registrars.

And the purchase of homes by foreigners has not stopped falling. During the first three months of 2020, after the coronavirus pandemic was decreed, operations decreased by 7% YoY to 14,850. That figure was equivalent to 12% of the total transactions recorded in Spain, according to data managed by the Registrars.
