Overnight stays in hotel establishments fell by 70.6% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the tourism sector. The data was published Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
This year, the INE did not publish the annual comparison of April 2021 compared to April 2020, since all hotels remained closed in the fourth month of last year to any tourist activity, so there was neither an influx of travellers nor overnight stays that month.
