According to the real estate consultancy Colliers, hotel investment, specifically for the refurbishment and construction of new hotels, will exceed 2.85 billion euros in 2022, adding that this amount will be used to renovate or build a total of 296 establishments and 33,887 rooms.
This figure, much higher than in previous years, includes both the investment planned for 2022 and the accumulated investment due to the completion of projects that have been paralysed over the last two years.
80% of the total will go to the construction of new properties, confirming the sector’s momentum. The trend is forecast to continue in the medium term, as evidenced by the figure for projects announced beyond next year, which, added to the total expected for 2022, stands at €5.487 billion.
