Home Sales Fall by 42% in 2Q20, Back to Level Last Seen in 2017

A total of 76,545 homes were bought and sold between April and June, a decline of 42.2% y-o-y, while the issuance of residential mortgages fell by 17.8% as a result of the crisis.

The impact of the pandemic on Spain’s economy in general and the property market specifically, is clear. Homes sales fell by 42.2% during the second quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2019, to 76,545 transactions, according to data from Spanish Registrars.

On the other hand, total sales dropped by 46.1% in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.
