A year ago, the automotive company Nissan announced the closure of its operations in Barcelona, located in the Zona Franca, Sant Andreu de la Barca and Montcada i Reixac. These facilities have aroused the interest of logistics operators due to their locations and their 500,000 square metre extension.
Goodman, the investor and developer of logistics projects, presented a project to Nissan’s Reindustrialisation Committee that includes a 550-million-euro investment which would create more than 3,200 direct jobs.
Goodman’s project proposes the development of “state-of-the-art” logistics and urban distribution facilities in the Zona Franca. It also envisages the development of flexible office spaces and data centres that would “reinforce Barcelona’s position as a leading city in the field of Industry 4.0”.
