The Hotel Barcelona 1882 has changed hands. The German fund Union Investment has acquired the complex from Meridia for €60 million, according to EjePrime.
The four-star asset has 182 rooms and opened three years ago, in 2018. Hotel Barcelona 1882 is located at 482 Calle Córcega and is operated by Izaka Hotel Management.
Javier Faus’ management company bought the asset in 2014 for 15.5 million euros. The building was made up of around thirty homes, commercial premises and single-family houses. The development and construction of the hotel cost the Meridia Iberia Real Estate Fund €50 million.
The buyer, Union Investment, is a German fund manager with €47.3 billion in assets. This company substantially increased its investments in 2019 and 2020. Its portfolio in Spain consists of the Hotel Barceló Raval, two office buildings in Barcelona, the Puerto Venecia shopping centre in Zaragoza and two medium-sized parks.
