Since 2007, the weight of international buyers in the Spanish residential market has risen from 4.2% to 10.9%, according to the figures collected for the analysis published in the report Foreign investment in the Spanish real estate market between 2007 and 2019, by the Bank of Spain on Wednesday.
The research, which has been prepared by Laura Álvarez, Roberto Blanco and Miguel García Posada from the General Directorate of Economy and Statistics, distinguishes between resident foreigners and non-resident foreigners. It also includes the effect of the 2008 real estate crash and the subsequent gradual recovery. The data used has been provided by the General Council of Notaries.
