The office market in Barcelona has bounded back during the first quarter of the year, according to the real estate consultancy firm Forcadell.
In total, leased office space totalled 80,000 square metres during the first three months of this year. The figure is an improvement upon forecasts, with Barcelona overtaking Spain’s capital.
The most noteworthy deal involved the French technology company Papernest, which finalised a transaction for 6,000 square metres in 22@ at the end of 2020. Other significant transactions included Claudio Galeno’s lease of 5,544 m2 in Barberà del Vallès, 4,683 m2 by Grupo Zeta/Prensa Ibérica and 7,500 m2 by Veepee in the Marina Factory building. The latter two are located in Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The technology sector continues to dominate in the 22@ district. Although interest fell during the pandemic, the area continues to be a magnet for talent due to its location, climate and opportunities.
