Footfall Increases at Shopping Centres in Spain With Respect to 2021

The cumulative figures for shopping centres in Q3 2022 compared to Q3 2021 continue their upward trend, with an increase of 5.38% in terms of sales and footfall.

How has footfall in shopping centres evolved over the last year? The shopping centre and retail park sector has been celebrating some good results. According to data from the Spanish Association of Shopping Centres and Retail Parks (AECC), during the first half of 2022, sales returned to their pre-pandemic figures, equivalent to those recorded during the same period in 2019. Investment is equally strong, with 16 buy and sale operations closed between January and June.

During the first half of 2022, 16 operations were carried out, worth more than 1 billion euros in total, particularly involving retail parks and portfolios of supermarkets and hypermarkets. Notable transactions included the sale of the Torrecárdenas and Finestrelles shopping centres.
