The amount that families spend on their homes continues to account for most of their indebtedness, since it represents 72.67% of the total, although that figure has been decreasing progressively since the previous financial crisis.
Even so, the bank debt of families and non-profit institutions residing in Spain grew slightly in May, by 8,316 million euros compared to the previous month, to reach 705,573 million euros. As such, it marked its highest ever level in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.
