The logistics market has emerged stronger from the global Covid-19 pandemic due to consumers behaviour in 2020 and the first half of 2021. According to a report on the demand for logistics by Cushman & Wakefield, an increase in e-commerce has been the main driver of demand for logistics space. It is expected to remain to do so in the coming years.

Pending final figures for the first half of the year, a total of 383,000 m2 of logistics spaces were contracted in Catalonia, which represents an increase of 83% over the same period last year. The first quarter of 2021 reached a high of 256,000 m2.

The largest deals in the six months were signed in the third ring around Barcelona. Amazon, the star of the semester, accounted for 50% of the space taken up, with a deal for 140,000 m2, along with more than 54,000 m2 in logistics enclaves such as the Prime zone and the AP-7 Axis. GLP in Valls was another large operation, leasing a 28,372 m2 logistics warehouse.
