Covid Boosts the Purchase of Single-Family Homes, According to the Registrars

During the fourth quarter of 2020, house sales increased by 2.1 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and the average size of the homes transacted also rose.

The Covid crisis has somewhat changed the preferences of home buyers. In this way, during the fourth quarter of 2020, the sale of homes in multi-family buildings accounted for 77.5% of the total, whilst the sale of single-family homes accounted for 22.5%, according to data from the College of Registrars.

As such, house sales recorded an increase of 2.1 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, which represents a new maximum in the historical series since 2005 and, in turn, a historical minimum in terms of the sale of flats.
