Construction Costs Fall by 3.8%, According to ACR

The decrease is due to a decline in labour costs and, to a lesser extent, a reduction in the price of materials, due to the impact of the coronavirus.

The cost of constructing residential buildings fell by 3.8% in 2020, compared to an increase of 5.23% in 2019, mainly due to the uncertainty caused by the Covid pandemic, as reflected in the Direct Cost of Construction Index produced by Construcciones ACR.

The General Director of ACR, Guillermo Jiménez, explained that “these figures should be taken with great caution and responsibility, because they are highly influenced by the health crisis and it is not clear that they will be maintained over time.”
