
1,501 borrowers (families and companies) filed for bankruptcy during the first quarter of 2020, down by 22.3% compared to the same period in 2019. Nevertheless, as the National Institute of Statistics (INE) points out, this data does not yet reflect the impact of coronavirus.
The number of families that filed for bankruptcy fell by 26.6% during the first quarter of the year in relation to the same period in 2019, amounting to 527 in total. Meanwhile, the number of companies decreased by 19.8%, to 974, according to the Bankruptcy Procedure Statistics published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Monday.
