Cement consumption in Spain grew by 8.4% in the first quarter of the year, reaching 1.4 million tonnes in March alone. The figure is 9.3% higher than in the same month in 2019, a year before the pandemic, and the highest production for this month in the last five years. The data was published by Oficemen, Spain’s cement manufacturers’ association. “Oficemen has already announced it expects stability in 2021 compared to 2020, despite the uncertainty surrounding the arrival of funds to reactivate the economy and the evolution of the pandemic,” says Víctor García Brosa, president of the association.
