The logistics sector in Catalonia saw 253,000 m2 of space contracted during the first quarter of 2021, of which 215,000 m2 were net contracting, an increase of 133% y-o-y (108,900 m2), according to data published by the CBRE.
During the first quarter of the year, demand increased due to a coronavirus-related boom in the e-commerce sector. Such transactions accounted for 78% of the total in the first quarter.
Prime rents in Catalonia remained stable at 7.00 euros/m2/month and are expected to continue to do so in the coming months.
The turnkey lease of 140,000 m2 by an e-commerce operator in El Far D’Empordà and 28,000 m2 by Aosom in Valls were two of the more significant transactions this month.
