

Cataluña is on its way to becoming the first region in Spain to regulate the price of rental homes in Spain. Yesterday, the political parties JxCat, ERC, En Comú Podem and La CUP presented a draft bill in the Catalan Parliament to limit the price of residential rents.
The proposal considers naming specific municipalities in which rental prices will be regulated, in particular those “that have a reference price index where rental costs increased by more than twenty per cent between the years 2014 and 2019, which are located within the Barcelona Metropolitan Area or in towns with more than twenty thousand inhabitants”, states the document.
