The Carrefour distribution group has reached an agreement to acquire the Supersol supermarket chain, which is owned by the Lithuanian group Maxima. The deal, which, according to both companies, is valued at 78 million euros, we be finalised the beginning of 2021, both companies said in a statement.
In particular, the transaction involves the acquisition of 172 of the chain’s supermarkets in Spain, mainly in Andalusia and the Community of Madrid. The deal would allow Carrefour to consolidate its position in Spain, where it currently operates 205 hypermarkets, 111 Carrefour Market supermarkets, more than 850 Carrefour Expresses and 25 Supecos.
