The New York-based real estate investment group announced that it had acquired Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management from The Carlyle Group. BGO aims to create a diversified real estate platform with $55 billion in assets under management.
The transaction combines BentallGreenOak’s Core, Core Plus, Value Add and Debt strategies and Metropolitan’s primary, secondary and co-investment real estate strategies. Metropolitan will now operate as BGO Strategic Capital Partners.
Sonny Kalsi, BentallGreenOak’s CEO, said that they now have the “global market leader in the secondary markets” after the acquisition of Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management.
