BBVA announced that it would extend a €320-million loan to the data centre company Nabiax. This company has eleven data centres in Spain and Latin America.
Nabiax’s assets include two in Spain, Brazil, Peru and Argentina, and one each in the US, Mexico and Chile. The Spanish ones are in Madrid, in Alcalá and Julián Camarillo. The first has 4,800 m2 and 7.9 mW, and the second 1,800 m2 and 2.9 mW.
All these assets were sold by Telefónica in 2019 to Asterion Industrial Partner for €550 million. Telefónica continues to provide and manage services to its customers in these data centres, while Asterion leverages Telefónica’s sales network to market the remaining capacity.
The financing is considered sustainable, allowing Nabiax to pay less on its debt. The company meets three EGS criteria: two of them environmental, related to carbon emissions and water treatment, and one social, related to gender equality.
