Barcelona’s Five Most Expensive Neighbourhoods to Rent a Home

According to Brains Real Estate, exclusive areas within the districts of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Les Corts and Sant Martí have the highest rents in Barcelona.

Barcelona is the most expensive municipality of more than 200,000 inhabitants in Spain to rent a property, followed by Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao and Badalona, according to data from the big data platform Brains Real Estate.

“Specifically, the average rental price of housing in Catalonia in the second quarter of 2021 reached €13.4 per m2 per month, with an average rent of €1,208 per month, while the rental price in Barcelona significantly exceeded these figures, with the [price per] m2 reaching €15.9 per month and the average amount standing at €1,310 per month,” said María Moreno, data scientist at Brains RE.

“The rental price data for both Catalonia and Barcelona registered figures that are well above the national average, given that the average rental price for housing in Spain was 10.3 euros per m2 per month and the average rent reached 963 euros per month,” Ms Moreno reported.
