Real estate development in Barcelona grew by 1% during the first nine months of 2020 compared to the same period a year earlier, with 261 projects underway, according to a study prepared by the real estate consultancy CBRE. Sant Martí and l’Eixample are the most active areas with 68 and 48 projects in progress, respectively.
Despite the slight growth in activity, it is not distributed equally. The residential sector accounts for most of the activity, specifically, 74% of the projects underway. By district, l’Eixample has the most residential projects under construction with a total of 40, 6 more than in 2019. It is followed by Sant Martí and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi with 32 and 24, respectively.
