Barcelona City Council, led by Ada Colau, is planning to build 212 industrialised homes over the next 37 months with a budget of 20.4 million euros. The homes are going to be built in the Sant Martí neighbourhood, on four plots of land owned by the municipality.
The proposal made by Lucía Martín, Barcelona City Council’s Councillor for Housing and Rehabilitation, seeks to create homes whose components will be prefabricated in a workshop for subsequent assembly on site. The City Council has justified the creation of homes using assembly construction techniques on the basis of their greater speed and enhanced sustainability.
