Illegal squatting has increased considerably in Spain in recent years. In this sense, the State security agents are demanding common tools from the Executive to act against this phenomenon. Citizens are also mobilising to confront the issue, which is of increasing concern.
On Monday, the State Attorney General, Dolores Delgado, announced that “in the coming days” she will issue an instruction for all prosecutors that will address the treatment of squatting, which is a “criminal phenomenon” that requires “specific action”.
