With the aim of accelerating its strategic plan, the Spanish distribution company Día, together with its subsidiaries Día Retail Spain and Grupo El Árbol, has sold 235 stores and two logistics warehouses to Alcampo, the subsidiary of the French group Auchan, which operates in Spain through its supermarkets, hypermarkets and online business.
The stores have an average surface area of 760 square metres and are located mostly in Castilla-León, Madrid, Aragón, Galicia and Asturias, whilst the two logistics warehouses are located in the Valladolid town of Villanubla. According to a statement from Día, the stores “do not fit with the Día group’s current strategy, which focuses on proximity establishments to offer a differentiated value proposition for our customers through local neighbourhood stores.”
