After considering various options for adding value to the plot located in Nuevos Ministerios, El Corte Inglés has chosen to erect a 15,000 square metre office building on the site. The Spanish group has chosen the British design and architecture studio Thomas Heatherwick to develop the building.
The building will be located next to El Corte Inglés de Nuevos Ministerios and will be called Castellana 69. Work on the project is expected to start in the first quarter of 2022, and it will be ready in 2024.
Castellana 69 is Heatherwick Studio’s first project in Spain. It was selected to design the office building in a competition where five Spanish and international firms participated.
